Hawaii gymnastics has grown in the past 20 years. The number of athletes has increased as parents continue to be actively involved in their children's health and physical development. Whether the goal is to develop a competitive gymnast, or just to increase strength, flexibility, and coordination in youngsters, gymnastics in Hawaii helps children prepare their bodies for any sport they choose to pursue in the future.
The sport of gymnastics enhances positive growth in Hawaii's children.
Gymtot classes are for students between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. These children enhance their large motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and depth perception along with understanding basic skills in gymnastics. Adjusting to new situations, learning to follow rules and directions, and multi-tasking with obstacle course stations are an important part of primary education.
Recreational gymnastics classes are for children ages 6 and older. The beginner program introduces basic skills along with an introduction to specific apparatus. At the intermediate level, students spend more time on each event and master basic core skills. The advanced level introduces the gymnast to combinations of skills in preparation for novice level routines. As each child progresses, they move up through our program and possibly up to a competitive level.
